Ready to talk content creation? Welcome back to part two with my bestie Allie Casazza and a few other amazing ladies, as we talk all about the ins and outs of everything you need to know to get started in making engaging content and utilizing SEO tools. We honestly don’t want to keep these secrets to ourselves! Your content deserves to be heard by the right audience that is going to engage with what you make and lead to sales, so paying attention to details when it comes to keywords can be a gamechanger. We touch on how to have fun with your content, while also thinking about it strategically! So grab a glass of something and a pen, because you are definitely going to want to take notes!

Showing Up As Your True Self

If you’re new to podcasting or sharing more of yourself online, it’s easy to put on a “podcast voice” and perhaps editing yourself and tone a little. Trust us when we say, it will get easier the more you do it! Same goes with filtering your speech, or what topics you want to share. If you want to swear or get into more mature topics and that’s your style, go for it! You can always share a 5 second disclaimer for parents in case their kids are around before you get into it, but you don’t necessarily have to mark your episode as “explicit”. This could affect who the platforms suggest your podcast to and limit your reach to new listeners.

Video vs. Audio Gram

Ultimately, a podcast is audible! So if you don’t want filming yourself for every episode to be your full focus if Youtube isn’t your main goal right now, you can always go with an audiogram. Sharing just your episode audio with an interesting thumbnail and audiowave to match yourself speaking is a great way to still share your content there for SEO purposes. You could also do a mix of both- renting a studio for a short period of time to batch film and record a few episodes every once in a while is also a great alternative. Same with content creation! Maybe there is a day you got your hair done and you are just totally vibing with your look that day, change outfits and film! There is also your audience to consider. If your audience is a busy Mom, putting on your podcast while she’s cooking dinner, she might not be watching the visual at all. However if your content is more informational based your ideal audience is likely searching for it on youtube! Pay attention to what is working, but don’t stress about it if it’s not your main focus right now.

The Power of Pinterest

Pinterest can work for you in more ways than you think! This is an amazing tool for finding rich SEO keywords on your chosen content topic and what other people are searching for surrounding it. Stuck on content ideas? Pop in some keywords within your niche, see what’s performing well, read the titles and pull inspiration from those. Sometimes you might have multiple areas you want to dive into and this is a great way to organize your ideas and be intentional about focusing on something your ideal audience is looking for.

Playful Strategy

Making content for your business should be fun, but if your views, likes and followers are not translating into podcast listeners or sales for your offerings, it’s just a hobby. Pinterest allows you so many ways to bring viewers out of Pinterest and directly to your website or podcast with direct source links, so take advantage of that! Including transcripts in your show notes is also an incredible way to increase optimal SEO for google as well.

When it comes to making pins to bring people to your website, blog and podcast, hop into Canva and make tiny edits with colors, fonts and word changes so you can make multiple posts on the same piece of content you want to highlight! It’s not about making all this new content or adding more to your plate because you are literally taking what you’ve already created in your podcast or blog and just highlighting what might catch someone's eye on Pinterest. Work smarter, not harder! Over time you will be able to see what works best and getting the most traction. Don’t be scared to try different techniques!

Email List - Quality Over Quantity

You don’t want to get caught up in the fear of a social media platform suddenly closing down, or accidentally getting hacked or booted off instagram, however there are ways to protect yourself and your content. A quality email list! In this case, it’s not completely just about the numbers and it’s 100% better to have a small list that’s engaged than a big list that’s dead. So if you do get yourself in a sticky situation online, you have a way to directly send a message about where your followers can find you next! Remember, invest in what you own and protect what you send. In the case of podcasts, you also own your RSS Feed, so if a platform decides to go down, you still own all of your episodes!

It might be a cliche, but don’t overthink it! Creating fun content while making SEO strategies on social media work for you is the key to bringing your content to the next level and ultimately expanding your reach! We hope you found some elevating tips on this episode and would love to connect with you on socials about what you found the most helpful!
